No one tells you how lonely adult life can be. It can have its moments of joy but also many of us struggle in brokenness. I have had my share of brokenness through my teens and adult life and sometimes it feels never ending. Just as I start a new season I'm wounded more and more. This is life, it's filled with ups and downs and many times we are paralyzed by the downs.

Being heartbroken is hard. Life surrounds us with hurts, pain, and trauma — and sometimes it feels like we’re walking through it alone. On most days I found myself raw, overwhelmed, and unsure of what healing even looked like.

But no matter how deep the ache, there is always hope. I believe, that hope is Christ carrying me, — even when I don’t feel it, even when I question it. He is there. He never lets go.

Knowing God is carrying me is wonderful, but there are active steps I've taken through years to cope with things in a healthier way. Many times, prayer helped, journaling helped. But what surprised me the most in recent years is how much art helped—especially when putting my pain on paper through color, texture, and expression.

So I decided to create a series for myself called From Broken to Blooming to help me reconnect with God's word, to reflect on self care and healing as well as express myself even if its challenging.

Florals always challenge me. It's the hardest thing to draw (in my opinion) so I thought "hey, let me do something that frightens me, florals!"

But this plan for myself came to life, the series took another turn. I thought (again), "Hey, I'm pretty sure there would be others in the world who would benefit from this, after all, we are all broken in some area in our life. Wouldn't this healing benefit us all?"

So I created a plan not just for myself but for everyone. I plan to add the prompts on the Eat Pray Art group (aside: Eat Pray Art group I started for Bible verse art prompts last year). I thought this may be fun to do with the people who are already on the group. If they benefit, great! So that's where this From Broken to Blooming the series workbook and coloring book and posters creations came to life.

Like flowers that need sunshine, good-quality soil, and room to grow with love and nourishment, we too sometimes don’t get the nourishment we need. At times, we feel drained and depleted.

Some of us are in a season where it feels like there aren’t even roots anymore. Some of us are dry and scorched by the stresses of life and desperately needing something that infuses us with energy and love.

In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

And that’s the call to action I’m approaching with this month. Taking “at least” 10 minutes a day to just find my rest in Him.

This workbook is an invitation — to reflect, to create, to write, and to let God gently meet you where you are.

This activity will not solve our problems, but I believe taking some time in our day to do an activity may allow us to pause and take stock (pun intended) of where we are, where we are going, and where we intend to reach (with God’s help).

Everyday, in June I'll be adding a journaling prompt, art prompt (with a new flower), with a small verse and prayer. In that same page will be references to help you (in case you don’t know what the flower looks like), but I would encourage you to Google/Pinterest and get references that you would want to use.

I have put an art journal aside for this (it helps to feel good and track how far I've come), but in case that’s not possible, a plain paper is fine just make sure your paper is at least 250gsm (heavy paper) so it holds paint.

Mediums to use to draw/paint can be pencil, pen, color pen, marker, watercolor paint, poster paint, acrylic, oil pastels, crayons (-whatever you have in hand).

I recommend getting your supplies in advance. Feel free to allocate a small space for you at the start of the day or the end of your day (or whenever you are free) to spend 10 minutes drawing or doodling and writing a little.

*I will be using a Hard Bound sketch book but you please feel free to use what you want or already have.

Again use what you have, no need to go shopping if you can't but if you’d like- these are what I will be using in the course of the month.

Some flowers are going to be easy some will be hard. Some journal prompts will be hard to express— but simply things. No answer is wrong and in these sessions its about embracing our imperfections.

Eat Pray Art is a channel on What's App and you are welcome to join and get the resources daily for free: https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VagDlti3WHTSlQjGW413

But if you'd to get the PDF's in advance or to gift someone they are also on sale on my Gumroad page (but these will be available for free on the what's app group every day this June 2025)

Hope this activity will bless you and fill your life with much-needed sunshine, good-quality soil, and room to grow in love and nourishment.

This 30-day devotional and art journaling challenge is designed for anyone moving through heartbreak, loss, or transition. It combines daily Bible verses with thoughtful journal prompts and floral-themed art activities. It’s gentle. Honest. And it hopes to meet you exactly where you are.

I hope it helps you reconnect with yourself, your voice, your healing.I hope it guides you into deeper self-care, clearer boundaries, and a stronger sense of peace rooted in Christ.

You don’t need to be an artist to begin. You just need to show up.

Sometimes, the only way to begin healing… is by creating.
