So those who know me know that I'm not an avid reader. I rarely read and that also is if I'm really drawn to a book. One of the reasons why I don't read is because books really affect me. They stay embedded in my mind all my life, so I'm always careful with the content I put into my brain. That's the power of books and I do think that reading is important but its also important that books can be used to teach, uplift and entertain us. So here's my first book list ever. These are books which have wowed me and made a dent in my universe (dramatics I know).
My daughter's school had a workshop the other day and she brought home a 3D book and it was super cool. I consider myself pretty hip as a mom, but I can't believe I had missed these. Brought out the child in all of us at home and everyone (especially certain adults) were eagerly waiting for their turn to read this book. If you're a youtube content creator or work closely with social media, blogging, facebook of any interest related work, if you're an entrepreneur and you're feeling a lull in your career— this book is the perfect pick me up. It's what I would deem as social media encouragement. Lilly Singh shares an all access pass into her mind (which is a beautiful place) and even though I'm not particularly a fan of her YouTube video but her writing and her book is fantastic. This was my daughter's birthday gift which she chose once when we told her to choose a book of her choice. Obviously I read it and its worth the journey. I know many of you reading this may not need Marathi but for those in Maharastra especially the kids who are in ICSE, IB, State or any other system of education here. The government has made learning Marathi compulsory till 10th grade. So this would be a nice refresher book for you and for your child to use as an educational supplement. Of course even if you're not forced to learn Marathi and you're interested in learning the language (it's a pretty cool language) then this is also a good resource to have in your library. I still apply many of the things I learnt in this book. Like don't make yourself too comfortable while eating and other principles like that. I like that the author takes the reader through her journey of years of dieting and probably saved me from years of mistakes. Now I'm far from being a vegetarian and after buying his previous books, you would know Jamie Oliver is all about balance. As many around the world are adopting vegan and veg lifestyles, last year he came up with this book. Now in full disclosure this is on my wishlist to buy and I haven't bought it yet, but I would still recommend the book because I have 3 of his books and his recipes are delicious, fast and super healthy.
